Govt can't protect Lok Man Singh Karki, says AG
KATHMANDU: Attorney General Raman Kumar Shrestha on Friday clarified that government attornies cannot protect suspended chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Lok Man Singh Karki, from being impeached.
Shrestha made the comment two days after more than one forth of the total lawmakers filed the impeachment motion against the controversial chief of anti-corruption constitutional body.
Speaking at a press meet at the Office of the Attorney General today, Shrestha said the government attorneys cannot defend people facing impeachment.
"Impeachment is a punishment," he said, "Thus, we cannot defend him."
