Govt-Dr KC talks end inconclusively

KATHMANDU: A meeting held between the representatives of senior orthopaedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Dr Govinda KC and the government at Singhadarbar has ended inconclusively for the second time.

According to sources, in an hour long meeting, both the parties could not come to terms on the demands made by Dr KC.

Dr Jiban Chhetri, Dr Abhisekh Raj Singh, Education Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, Health Secretary Kiran Regmi and Secretary of the Office of Prime Minister Gopinath Mainali among others were present in the meeting.

Dr KC, who has been on fast-unto-death since Monday, demanded that the Parliament pass Medical Education Bill incorporating the recommendations of the Kedar Bhata Mathema-led panel.

Meanwhile, the government on Friday had formed a high-level talk team to hold discussion with Dr KC.
