KATHMANDU, AUGUST 7

The government has formed a three-member commission to investigate the Air Dynasty chopper crash.

An emergency Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday established the commission, coordinated by senior Nepali Army pilot Subas Thapa, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

The commission includes aeronautical engineer Bishnu Basnet and Under-Secretary (Technical) of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Tanuja Pokharel. The commission has been tasked with submitting its report within 30 days.

Extending tribute to those who lost their lives in the helicopter crash, the government expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Minister Gurung mentioned that tributes were paid to all those killed in the incident.

Five passengers, including the pilot Arun Malla, were killed when the helicopter, with the call sign 9N-AJD, crashed in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7 on Wednesday afternoon. The chopper had flown from Nalinchowk in Bhaktapur district to Syaphrubeshi in Rasuwa district.

The Chinese nationals killed in the crash are Tang Jutao, Wu Yiyao, Li Jie, and Xie Zeming.

All the bodies of the helicopter crash victims have been kept at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for postmortem, shared the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
