KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 10
The government and representatives of the Gen Z movement signed a 10-point agreement late this evening at the Office of the Prime Minister in Singha Durbar.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Bhoj Bikram Thapa-representing those who were martyred or injured during the Gen Z movement-signed the agreement.
Following the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Karki described the consensus as a milestone that would help steer the country toward meaningful transformation. "The agreement will guide tomorrow's wave for change," she said, adding that it would help strengthen the constitution and contribute to preventing future bloodshed and disasters. "We are one family. Gen Z youth are my children, and we all aspire for the younger generation to rise to positions of state leadership. Their ideas and vision should guide the State. We wish to see a bright future for our children."
The agreement includes provisions related to good governance, constitutional amendments, and reforms to the electoral system, aligning with the demands raised during the Gen Z movement on September 8–9.
Government ministers, the chief secretary, and senior officials were also present at the ceremony.
