Govt should strive to win people’s trust, says Minister Rai

Kathmandu, December 24

Minister for Information and Communication Technology Sherdhan Rai today directed the offices under the ministry to work in a manner that people can experience change.

Addressing a quarterly review meeting at the ministry today, Minister Rai stressed that the government bodies should work in a transparent manner and strive to meet the expectations of the people in the changed context.

“We should strive to win people’s trust, while trying to implement the provisions of the new constitution,” he said. Minister Rai also drew the attention of all ministries for the effective implementation of the two-year plan announced by the government.

Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Sunil Bahadur Malla, said the capital expenditure and the physical development progress report of the ministry was not satisfactory and directed the department heads to come up with detailed information in the next quarterly progress review meeting.

Joint Secretary at the National Planning Commission Gopinath Mainali said the quarterly progress and the capital expenditure of the ministry was satisfactory.

Mainali drew the attention of the ministry towards preparing strategic plan for sustainability of five media institutions under it.

Director-General at the Department of Information Laxmi Bilas Koirala said the draft of the online media management had been prepared and forwarded to the Council of Ministers.

Chief of the Policy, Plan, Monitoring and Evaluation Section at the Ministry, Rudra Sharma, presented the capital expenditure and the progress report of offices under the ministry.
