Govt, Sisdole locals discuss projects
Kathmandu, May 13:
Government representatives and ad-hoc committee members of the Sisdol-e landfill site today held a meeting on development projects demanded by the locals. “We discussed the development projects demanded by the locals of the affected areas to ensure undisturbed flow of garbage in the landfill site,” said Ashok Shahi, acting general manager of the Solid Waste Management and Resource Mobilisation Centre.
Shahi said out of Rs 8 million allocated for development projects, Rs 3.5 million has already been spent and the government is working on the projects with the rest of the budget.
“We have asked the ad-hoc committee to form a full-fledged panel involving people from all sectors, including representatives of the civil society soon,” he said.
Shahi also said the ad-hoc committee had a brief meeting with Minister for Local Development Dev Prasad Gurung. He said the minister was positive about meeting the demands of the affected people. A member, Jit Bahadur Balami, said the committee has demanded Rs 8 million to complete the development projects.
