Govt to get rid of old vehicles
Kathmandu, November 17:
The government formed a task force today to dispose of or auction hundreds of vehicles, mostly cars, lying unused in government offices. The body is headed by acting secretary of the proposed Administrative Restructuring Commission, Yubaraj Bhusal. Other members of the task force are representative joint secretaries from ministries of Home, Finance, Physical Planning and General Administration.
“The government plans to auction most of the old vehicles,” said Bhusal. “Others, which can be used after maintenance, will be brought into use.”
Most of the vehicles are owned by Home, Finance, Water Resources and Labour and Transport Management ministries.
The task force has written to all ministries to send detailed reports about such vehicles by November, Bhusal said.
“We will recommend the ministries concerned to accomplish the task of auctioning or repairing the vehicles after analysing and evaluating the reports submitted by the ministries,” said Bhusal. “The task force will also monitor the auction process.”
