KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 9
The government has decided to provide one million rupee to each family of the Nepali nationals killed in the terrorist attacks in Israel.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson, Rekha Sharma, made this announcement following a meeting of the Council of Ministers held today.
Furthermore, the cabinet meeting has decided to repatriate Nepalis who wish to return home using chartered flights operated by Nepal Airlines Corporation and Himalayan Airlines. The government also expressed heartfelt condolences to the 10 Nepalis killed in Israel during the attacks by Palestine's Hamas group and extended deep sympathies to their bereaved families.
In addition, the cabinet meeting expressed its wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government has declared a national mourning day for Tuesday to pay tribute to the Nepalis killed in Israel. During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in government offices in Nepal and Nepal's diplomatic missions abroad, as stated by Minister Sharma.
The government has also decided to coordinate with the Nepal Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, to bring back the bodies of the 10 Nepalis who lost their lives in Israel. The Embassy of Nepal in Israel will work in conjunction with the Israeli government to search for missing Nepalis and ensure treatment for the injured.
Moreover, the cabinet meeting has directed the Nepali Embassy to facilitate the online data entry of Nepalis who are expecting to return home. The Embassy has been granted permission to hire local experts in the language for a three-month period to facilitate the rescue and repatriation of Nepalis.
Minister Sharma also mentioned that the Nepal Embassy has been authorized to establish a Temporary Transit Home to assist in rescue operations and to cooperate and facilitate in the repatriation process.
Finally, the government has decided to seek support from Israel and neighboring countries if necessary to aid in the rescue of Nepalis."
