Govt to uphold rights, law: Rawal

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bhim Rawal today said he was committed for the protection of human rights and to ensuring the rule of law.

Meeting human rights activists and civil society leaders at the Ministry, Rawal promised to maintain the rule of law. He said that nobody would be spared for their criminal activities just because they belonged to a political party.

Rawal also expressed commitment to work in order to resolve the garbage problem and to control skyrocketing commodity prices. Charan Prasain, Dr Birendra Mishra, Arjun Karki and Bishnu Pukar Shresha discussed the rights issue and security matters. "We apprised the minister about the possibility of rights violation while implementing Special Security Programme to tackle criminal groups operating in the Tarai," Prasain said.
