Govt workers’ body holds 33rd meet

The 33rd secretariat-level meeting of Nepal Government Employees’ Organisation (NGEO)

was held in the capital today.

The meeting focussed on the probable effects of the second amendment of the Government Service Act of 2049 on government employees.

Participants at the meeting stressed the need for the employees’ participation in policy formation procedures.

They also suggested the government to take into consideration the recommendations forwarded by the employees’ unions to make the Act more effective.

The organisation has already submitted a memorandum to the minister for general administration, the chief secretary, the secretary at the ministry of general administration and the chairman of the public service commission asking for clarifying its view on the newly-amended act, according to a press release issued by the organisation.

According to the press release, the employees’ organisation has demanded that the government form a committee to protect the rights of all the government employees and include their representatives in the committee.
