KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation for Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a charge sheet at the Special Court against a police official who it said submitted fake educational certificate in the Nepal Police for his promotion.

According to the anti-graft constitutional body, Toran Bahadur Bhandari had acquired fake high school degree, which showed he passed the high school from an Indian board in 1995, for his promotion. He was serving as a sub-inspector at the District Police Office, Bardia that time.

The CIAA has sought maximum punishment against Bhandari as per the anti-corruption laws.
