Corruption cases filed against former APF IG, three others

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today filed a corruption case at the Special Court against four persons, including former inspector general of Armed Police Force Shailendra Kumar Shrestha.
Other defendants include APF Police Inspector (accounts) Takman Mahara, DSP Ram Chandra Shrestha and Bharat Kumar Thapa of Aditi Transport, according to a press statement issued by the CIAA.
The anti-graft body accused the defendants of producing fake bills and documents to embezzle millions of rupees from the state coffers.
The anti graft body sought to recoup Rs 80, 93,610 from former IG of APF Shrestha and Rs 8,093,610 from Mahara.
The CIAA also sought to recoup Rs 1,839,510 from Ram Chandra Shrestha and Rs 5,721,570 from Bharat Kumar Thapa.
The CIAA accused the defendants of using fake bills and creating a fictitious transport company named “Satyam Transport” to show that goods had been transported.
The commission has charged the defendants as per the pertinent sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002.
Earlier on February 1, the anti-graft body had filed a corruption case against the suspended Armed Police Force Inspector General Kosh Raj Onta and 10 others.
