Gurung for PR system in CA polls

Kathmandu, August 11:

State Minster for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Indra Bahadur Gurung today said that the “new Nepal” should address the needs of all the Nepalis and be a place for every caste and creed to live happily.

Speaking at an interaction on the people’s role in the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls, organised by the National Cultural Uplift Forum, Gurung stressed on the indispensable position of every individual to ensure their demands were addressed by the new constitution. “Proportionate representation (PR) in the CA polls is the only way to ensure that all voices are heard,” he said, adding: “Only strong pressure from the people can make the government ensure a PR system in the CA polls.”

At the function, Gurung felicitated Honey Shrestha for his contribution to preserving culture, Mohan Bikram Thapa for contribution in the education sector and Dev Raj Katwal and Yug Ratna Tamrakar for contributing to society.

General secretary of the Nepal Film Development Board, Mohan Niraula, underscored the need for unity among all Nepalis to defeat ‘the foreign power’ trying to delay the forthcoming CA polls.
