Gurung, one of three injured in Ncell office blast, dies

KATHMANDU: One of the three persons injured in the IED explosion at the entrance of the Ncell office in Nakkhu, Lalitpur, died in course of treatment, said police.

According to Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, 49-year-old Singha Pratap Gurung breathed his last at Nepal Mediciti Hospital, at 12:25 am today.

Spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Apil Raj Bohara said, the body of the deceased has been taken to Patan Hospital for post mortem.

DSP Bohara further informed that six persons have been detained for questioning in connection to the blast.

The blast at the entrance of the office of the telecommunications service provider at around 8:00 pm yesterday also left two others — Pratiksha Khadka and Urusha Manandhar— injured.

Earlier, Nepal Police Spokesperson Uttam Raj Subedi said preliminary investigations suggested that the bomb might have gone off just as Gurung kicked the container containing explosives.

Police informed that Khadka has suffered injuries on her left rib while Manandhar got glass particles forced into one of her lateral malleolus (ankle joint).

Meanwhile, Khadka and Manandhar are still under treatment.
