Gyawali to lead Nepali delegation to NAM meet
Kathmandu, April 1
Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali will lead the Nepali delegation to the Non-Aligned Movement Mid-Term Ministerial Conference to be held in Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan, from April 5 to 6.
Other members of the delegation include Durga Prasad Bhattarai, permanent representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, and Counsellor Surendra Thapa, said a press release issued by the MoFA today. The ministerial conference will be preceded by senior officials meeting from April 3 to 4.
“The conference will assess the progress since the last summit of the NAM and prepare for the upcoming summit to be held in 2019,” the release added. The theme of this conference is “Promoting International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development”. Nepal is a founding member of the non-aligned movement and its principles constitute important elements of Nepal’s foreign policy.
