Hari Phuyal appointed Attorney General

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday appointed advocate Hari Phuyal the Attorney General, upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The appointment was made as per Article 157.2 of the Constitution.

The position was vacant since March 1 when the then Attorney General Hari Krishna Karki resigned from his position.

Karki had put in papers as his name was recommended by the Judicial Council for appointment as a Justice at the Supreme Court, which, however, is yet to be materliased.

The Attorney General works as the chief legal advisor to the government.
