KATHMANDU, APRIL 25
Fearing shortage of medical supplies and equipment following a surge in number of Covid-19 patients with the advent of new wave of the pandemic, Nepal's Health Ministry is preparing to procure around twenty thousand oxygen cylinders to deal with the shortage of oxygen if the crisis deepens in future.
Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam stated that a decision has been made to request the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for acquiring the necessary cylinders from abroad.
Keeping in mind the recent surge in the COVID-19 cases across the country, the Ministry has made the move so as to ensure that the severely infected patients would not have to face the scarcity of Oxygen support.
COVID-19 causes damages in the respiratory system and requires oxygen support of breathing for severely affected patients.
