KATHMANDU, APRIL 25
The Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday directed all health facilities that provide Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test services to stop testing foreigners that are in Nepal en route to third countries.
According to the notice issued by the health ministry today, the Covid-19 test labs are directed to conduct PCR tests of only those who are Nepali citizens, staffers of diplomatic agencies and missions, their families, and those foreigners who are living in the country for longer duration, only after verifying their papers.
The labs, as such, have been asked to refrain from testing those foreigners who make the country a transit before they fly to a third country or come to the country only to take a PCR test.
The notice claims that such kind of activities has increased the risk of coronavirus infection in the country, and therefore, any labs or persons that conduct such tests will be dealt with according to relevant laws and regulations.
