HLPC decides to urge govt to hold talks with India to ease supply of essential goods

KATHMANDU: The High Level Political Committee (HLPC) has decided to urge the government to immediately hold talks with Indian government to ease supply of essential goods including petroleum products.

The Committee meeting held at Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday morning made the decision to this effect.

The Committee, headed by UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has also decided to hold talks with the leaders of Nepali Congress (NC) for the amendment of constitution to address the demands of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front.

Senior leaders of ruling CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic were present on the occasion.

Nepal is currently reeling under acute shortage of petroleum products after Madhes-based parties intensified their agitation in the wake of the promulgation of the new constitution on September 20 and obstructed the Nepal-India border.
