Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung today visited the District Police Range Office Kathmandu, where he directed police personnel to serve the public with accountability and transparency.
Upon his arrival, the Home Minister was welcomed by senior police officials.
During the visit, Gurung instructed the police force to discharge their duties responsibly in order to maintain peace, security, and public order in society. He stated that there would be no undue interference from any level in the performance of their duties, and commended the police for their contribution to combating crime.
The Home Minister emphasized the need for the police to further strengthen cordial and friendly relations with citizens by maintaining professionalism and courtesy in their words and responses. He stressed that improving public perception of the police is essential, adding that effective service delivery is a key tool to achieve this goal.
Gurung further reiterated that public service must remain at the core of policing. He noted the police force's leading role in disaster management and urged them to continue their efforts in the future.
He also pledged to make the police administration more resourceful by providing training in line with contemporary needs and challenges.
