Home Minister urges police to 'seriously' perform duties

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Shakti Bahadur Basnet directed Nepal Police personnel to perform their duties seriously.

Visiting the Nepal Police headquarters today, the Minister said his first priority would be to reform the police organisation so as to meet national demands of the changed political context.

He requested police personnel to perform their duties while maintaining political neutrality. He also pledged not to interfere in administrative affairs of the organisation.

The Ministry would provide all resources including human resources to the organisation as per its need, according to Basnet.

He also expressed his commitment to maintain zero tolerance over financial anomalies and failure to maintain duties.

While visiting the headquarters today, Basnet also held video conversations with regional chiefs of Nepal Police.

Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Surya Prasad Silwal and Inspector General of Nepal Police Upendra Kanta Aryal had also spoken at the function.
