'Home stay at every house' campaign for tourism promotion: Minister Pokharel

Bhaktapur: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ananda Prasad Pokharel, said the Ministry has launched 'home stay at every house' campaign for the promotion of tourism.

Speaking at an inaugural session of the second town council of the Anantalingeshwar Municipality in Bhaktapur today, Minister Pokharel said that the Ministry has launched the home stay campaign in an objective of economic prosperity of people in village through tourism development.

The Minister further said that discussion with the Ministry of Urban Development was underway for the provision of mandatory construction of two rooms for tourists in every new house in course of reconstruction.

The Tourism Minister said, "Economic development of the people would be possible only from the development of tourism sector."

He said that all religious and historical heritages damaged by the earthquake would be reconstructed within six years. Stating that reconstruction of architectural heritages constructed 100 years ago would be carried out through reconstruction authority, Minister Pokharel demanded the local bodies to provide record of such heritages.

Similarly, former Industry Minister Mahesh Basnet, lawmaker Rameshwor Dhungel, former lawmaker Lekhnath Neupane, Chief District Officer Toyam Raya, Local Development Officer Pashupatibabu Puri, among others said that all should involve in the development of the town.

On the occasion, Surya Bahadur Makaju was honoured with Rs 10,000 as the best employee of the Municipality employees. Executive Officer of the Municipality, Hutraj Lamsal unveiled the budget programme of Rs 114.7 million of the Municipality for the fiscal year 2015-2016.
