House burgled

KATHMANDU: Property worth around Rs 150,000 was stolen from an unattended house in Gaurighat on Saturday. According to a complaint lodged with police, unidentified thieves broke into the house of Raj Kumar Limbu, 40, after breaking the bolt of the main door and fled with a laptop and gold ornaments weighing two tola.

Five suspects held

BHAKTAPUR: Police on Saturday rounded up five persons on charge of attempting to cheat a man of tens of thousands of rupees. The detainees are Ravi Khanal, 28, of Tanahun; Chitra Bahadur Gurung, 52, of Lamjung; Jit Bahadur Gurung, 51, Shanta Bahadur Tamang, 38, and Anita Lama, 49, of Nuwakot. A special team of Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju had arrested them from Thimi while they were trying to sell a brass Buddha idol to a man, saying that it was made of gold.

Hooch seized

LALITPUR: Police on Sunday confiscated 170 litres of unlicenced liquor from Chapagaun and Dhapakhel. The illicit liquor was being ferried to Lagankhel and Satdobato on public vehicles when police seized more than a dozen jerry cans filled with hooch during security check.
