House panel finally endorses Reconstruction Bill

KATHMANDU: The Legislation Committee of the Parliament on Wednesday unanimously endorsed the National Reconstruction Authority Bill with some amendments.

Now, the Bill would be tabled at the House meeting for the discussion.

The Bill would enable the government to form the National Reconstruction Authority to coordinate reconstruction activities for survivors of the April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks and reconstruct structures destroyed or damaged by the quakes.

A meeting of the Committee held today endorsed the Bill, reported the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Agni Kharel requested the Committee to endorse the Bill at the earliest as both ruling and opposition sides wanted the Bill to get implemented at the earliest.

The Bill was pending at the panel for last few months owing to differences between ruling and opposition parties.
