House to pass nine bills today

Kathmandu, October 5

The Parliament Secretariat has listed nine bills for today’s House meeting out of which four to five bills are likely to be passed. The government wants maximum number of bills passed as the term of the current Parliament will end on October 21.

Among the nine bills that are listed for House’s business today are bill relating to Rapti Health Science Academy Bill, Inter-government Finance Bill,  National Natural Resources and Finance Commission Bill, Bill relating to the Election of the National Assembly Members, Bill relating to Election of  President and Vice President, Bill relating to Pay and Perks of the Supreme Court Justices, Bill relating to Pay and Perks of High Court Judges, Bill relating to Adjustment of Civil Servants and National Women Commission Bill.

Spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat Bharat Raj Gautam yesterday said the parliamentary panel had okayed almost half a dozen bills which were likely to be passed.

“The House wants to give priority to pass election and federalism related bills,” Gautam said. He said there were over two dozen bills pending in the House which this Parliament might not be able to pass as its  term will end on October 21.

“The new government will have to bring these bills afresh in the new Parliament,” Gautam said. He said there could be four to five more meetings of the House before its term ends.

As per the tentative business schedule of the Parliament, Development Committee Chair Rabindra Adhikari will present panel’s annual report in the Parliament.

Similarly, Chair of Legislation Committee Ganga Chaudhary (Satgaunwa) will also present panel’s annual report in the Parliament.
