Ikeda bags KMC’s award

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City conferred the ‘Peace Award Kathmandu - 2004’ on Dr Daisaku Ikeda, president of Soka Gakkai International (SGI) of Japan, on Sunday. Bal Krishna Prasai, secretary at the Ministry for Local Development, gifted a sword to Ikeda’s representative, Yoshiko Kawamura. Ikeda was honoured for his contribution to world peace and advancement of education. —HNS

KATHMANDU: The third general meeting of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, RSS chapter, elected Ekraj Pathak as president of the chapter. The meeting unanimously elected Tirtha Prasad Bhattarai as the vice-president, Narayan Prasad Neupane as the secretary, Bishnu Prasad Nepal as the treasurer and Madan Gautam, Hiralal Biswokarma and Gautambuddha Bajracharya as executive members. — RSS
