BHAKTAPUR: An handyman of a truck Dipendra Sanjel was killed when the truck he was travelling in met with an accident at Palase of Bhaktapur district along the Araniko Highway at about half past five on Monday morning. Police said that the truck was coming to Kathmandu from Kavre when it overturned. — HNS

Blast at govt building

KATHMANDU: Windowpanes and book shelves were damaged when a bomb, presumably hurled, went off on the ground floor of the Nepal Law Reform Commission building at Jamal on Monday evening, the police said. — HNS

Police denies reports

KATHMANDU: The police headquarters has denounced reports in some newspapers that police personnel are resigning en masse because of the curtailing of their facilities. A press release signed by Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chand, the spokesperson of the Nepal Police, said that the five police personnel from Sunsari had resigned due to some personal reasons and not because of curtailing of facilities as reported in some newspapers. The reports are baseless and false, the statement says. — HNS

DDC passes budget

Bhaktapur: The 13th council meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC) of Bhaktapur passed a budget of Rs 278,384,098 on Monday. Of the total budget, Rs 231,818,398 has been allocated for development of the district. The remaining sum has been allocated for administrative expenditures. Newly-nominated chairman of the DDC Bhaktapur, Surrendra Pratap Shah said the ministry of local development had given Rs 66,649,000 as grant. — HNS
