Blasts rock capital

Kathmandu: Two blasts rocked Kathmandu on Sunday. Police said pressure cooker bombs damaged the office building of a VDC and a boarding school. A pressure cooker bomb planted by the Maoists exploded on Sunday at Bhadrakali VDC. The western wall of the building collapsed. Another bomb went off at 7:30 pm near the office building of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15. Police said the bomb was meant to target the KMC ward office building but the nearby Tripla Jems Boarding School building was damaged instead. — HNS

Three injured in brawl

Kathmandu: Three locals were injured at Kalanki when a group of about 15 unidentified persons attacked them at the Makalu Yatayat ticket counter on Sunday morning. Those injured are admitted at the Bir Hospital and their condition is reported to be normal, police said. The police are trying to indentify and nab the culprits. — HNS

Two bodies found

Kathmandu: Police found two unidentified bodies at different parts of Kathmandu on Saturday. Body of about 50 year-old male was discovered at Nayapati village development committee-2 of Kathmandu and another of about 45 year-old male was found at Ratopul of Kathmandu Metropolitan City ward number 9, police said adding, investigations are underway. — HNS

School inaugurated

KATHMANDU: Inaugurating the Shankhadhar English School established in the name of Shankhadhar Shakhwa, a national hero, at Dhadikot -9 Kwachee, Bhaktapur, professor Harsha Narayan Dhaubhadel said the democratic culture should be promoted from educational institutions. Rights activist Padma Ratna Tuladhar also laid stress on the need for educating students about democracy and human rights right from the schools to strengthen democracy in the country. — HNS

HURPES seeks probe

KATHMANDU: The Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) has demanded investigation into the killing of three persons at Takiya of Morang district on April 2. The HURPES said that the killings did not occur during encounter with the security forces as claimed. — HNS

Tamayeeg training ends

Kathmandu: A five-day long Tamayeeg language training organised by the central secretariat of the Nepal Tamang Ghedung and Adivasi-Janajati Utthan Pratisthan ended here on Sunday. Some 16 Tamang youth had participated in the training where they were taught different techniques of using the Tamayeeg language which is not popular for daily conversation. — HNS
