Democracy Day greetings

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of National Democracy Day on Thursday, various political party leaders have extended heartfelt greetings to all brothers and sisters of the country. The CPN UML general-secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal issued a statement stressing that all parties, civil society and individuals struggling for democracy should rise above their prejudices and narrow-mindedness and become united. Reinstate House: NWPP

BHAKTAPUR: Central president of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) Narayanman Bijukchhe has suggested reinstatement of the House of Representatives to resolve the present problem. Speaking at a district-level gathering of the party activists organised by NWPP Bhaktapur district committee here on Tuesday, NWPP President Bijukchhe said that social transformation is not possible unless the people of the country are politically aware and organised. Bijukchhe stressed that parallel local bodies should be constituted to bring about total change in the country. — RSS

CJ leaves for Pakistan

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Govinda Bahadur Shrestha left here on Wednesday for Karachi, Pakistan to participate in the Seventh SAARC Chief Justices Conference and 10th SAARC Law Conference to be held there from February 20 to 22. During the conference of SAARC chief justices, discussions will be held on various topics including delays and backlogs in court management, the role of training in improving the quality of judicial dispensation, and legal awareness, it is stated in a press release issued her on Wednesday. — RSS

Phaujdar’s killing flayed

KATHMANDU: Nepal Human Rights Organisation has condemned the Maoists for killing former National Assembly member Khem Narayan Phaujdar recently. The killing of political workers, who are leading an ordinary life in rural areas, hinders the attempts of seeking an outlet to the present impasse, it has been stated in a press release issued by the organisation on Wednesday. Study on fake certificates

LALITPUR: Fake educational certificates have been used in corporations in order to enter into services, whereas they have been used for the purpose of promotion in civil services, according to a research conducted by the Public Service Commission. Fake certificates have been used in civil services for the purpose of getting promotion rather than for entering into the job, said Secretary of the Commission Hem Raj Paudel while speaking at a discussion on the problem and control of fake educational certificates held here on Wednesday by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority. — RSS
