Two-day health camp

KATHMANDU: The Population Services International, the Rotary Club of Rajdhani, and Nepal Fertility Care Centre organised a health camp in Nayapati village development committee on Saturday. Over 25 cases of vasectomy, intra-uterine contraceptive device were successfully handled in the first day of the camp. More than 100 people from different wards of the VDC underwent a general health check-up. The camp will be continued on Sunday. — HNS

Poetry anthology out

KATHMANDU: The newly appointed Nepali ambassador to Japan Dr Rameshananda Baidhya, formally released an anthology of poems by Hemnath Ghimire Chatibhitra Desh Dukhda, published by the International Nepalese Literary Society, Japan, at a function in Tokyo recently. Ghimire said the money raised through it sale would be presented to a school in Nepal. — RSS

Public hearing

BHAKTAPUR: Public hearings have been initiated to inform the people of the work done by the district land survey branch office. Survey officer Sharad Chandra Dawadi said such hearings were being initiated to entertain public complaints. During the hearing, technician at the office Harikrishna Bhuju said public hearings would be held as and when needed. — RSS

NRNs in Japan form body

KATHMANDU: A gathering of Nepalis living in Tokyo, Japan constituted the non residential Nepalis (NRN) Japan National Committee under the chairmanship of Rajan Pradhanang. Sharad Sherchan is the vice chairman, Kumar Basnet general secretary, Kranti Shrestha secretary, and Subarna Lata Tuladhar treasurer. — RSS

Three personalities feted

KATHMANDU: Journalist Rishi Dhamala, artist and culture expert Subi Shah, and social worker cum expert on naturopathy Laxmi Kant Pandey were felicitated here on Saturday in recognition for their contributions in their respective fields. Minister for Physical Planning and Works Buddhi Man Tamang, felicitated them by presenting them with a shawl each and a citation at a programme organised by the culture protection and promotion youths group. — RSS

Students awarded

LALITPUR: The vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr Shankar Prasad Sharma said everyone has the inherent right to education, and women education should be considered an inherent right. Speaking at a prize distribution ceremony at the Dilli Bazaar Kanya Multipurpose Campus on Saturday, Dr Sharma said the government had appointed a woman a NPC member to set an example. He gave prizes to Sangita Kaderiya, Nissa Dahal and Manisha Sharma for their outstanding performances in the examinations. — RSS
