Sujata’s support

KATHMANDU: NC central member Sujata Koirala on Monday assured Maoist victims of her and her party’s support to their cause. According to a press statement issued by Nepal Maoist Victims’ Association (NMVA), Koirala, speaking at an interaction, said the Nepali Congress would consider the issue of Maoist victims as a national issue. — HNS

TU victims’ protest

KIRTIPUR: Tribhuvan University (TU) Victims’ Struggle Committee (TUVSC) staged a sit-in in front of the TU main entrance in Kirtipur on Monday to pressurise the government to meet their demands. They threatened to shut down Kirtipur and Balkhu area for an indefinite period from next Sunday if their demands were not met by then. Birendra Shakya, member of the struggle committee, told this daily that they would submit a memorandum along with signatures collected from the locals for their cause to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ by Thursday. The committee has been staging protests while the university has been shut down indefinitely since January 1. — HNS
