Control graft, PM told

KATHMANDU: Representatives of the Transparency International Nepal (TIN) on Friday appealed to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to curb corruption. TIN chairman

Damodar Prasad Gautam and other representatives, including Dr Devendra Raj Pandey, Sneha Sayami, Krishna Prasad Bhandari, Ananda Raj Mulmi, Sarvagya Ratna Tuladhar and Ashish Thapa, met the PM and urged him to ratify the UN Convention Against Corruption at the earliest. According to a press release issued by TIN’s executive director Ashish Thapa, the PM said the government would work in line with suggestions of the TIN to curb corruption. — HNS

Children’s festival

KATHMANDU: Nepal Children’s Organisation and Universal Event Management are organising a children’s festival at Fun Park in Bhrikutimandap from September 11 to 15. The festival is being held to mark National Children’s Day-2008. NCO said in a release on Friday that awareness programmes and competitions would be organised during the festival to bring children’s talent to light. Economically-downtrodden, handicapped and street children will be given free passes to enable them to show their talent, the release said. — HNS
