CJ returns from UK

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri returned home on Monday wrapping up his week-long official visit to the United Kingdom. During his visit, he met Chief Justice of UK Lord Phillips, Attorney General Baroness Scotland QC and some other high-ranking officials. Talking to mediapersons at the Tribhuwan International Airport, Giri said he took up rule of law, independence of judiciary and judicial cooperation between the two nations with those he met. Supreme Court registrar Ram Krishna Timalsena accompanied Giri on the visit. — HNS

Two held with fake IC

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) arrested two persons with fake Indian currency worth Rs 18,000 from Makkhantole on Friday, police said. The arrested are Hitendra Ghiraiya, 30, of Makkhantole and Rajesh Shakya of Bhaktapur. The two said they had received the fake notes from a hardware shop owner at Bhotebahal. — HNS
