KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the government to pay Rs 30,000 as compensation to executive president of Shrijanshil Publication and journalist Bijayaraj Acharya. The publication had moved the Kathmandu District Court against the then government, accusing it of illegally arresting Acharya and subjecting him to torture in January 2001. — HNS

Ram Baran’s appeal

BHAKTAPUR: General secretary of the Nepali Congress Ram Baran Yadav has called upon all parties to work for formulating a democratic constitution. Addressing a seminar on ‘’Role of Youths in Formulation of Democratic Constitution’’ organised by Nepal Tarun Dal, Bhaktapur, on Saturday, Yadav said the new constitution should be inclusive and do justice to ethic groups, religions and communities. He said the onus is on the NC to expedite the peace process by putting an end to politics of violence. He called on youths to play a proactive role at a time when the country is in transition— HNS
