900 gm heroin seized
KATHMANDU: The Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit on Sunday said it arrested a Tanzanian national Rajabu Hassan Dolle (passport no 153378) with 900 grams of heroin from Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday. Police said Dolle swallowed 74 capsules of heroin. The police said it extracted the contraband from his stomach in the Nepal Police Hospital. — HNS
Call for voters
KATHMANDU: Seventy-four women candidates contesting the polls under the first-past-the-post and proportional representation system from 15 constituencies of the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday attended a programme organised by Sancharika Samuha and UNIFEM. The women candidates stressed on the importance of women’s role in drafting new constitution after the CA election and urged the voters to vote for the women candidates. — HNS
‘Journalists’ role vital’
LALITPUR: Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare and CPN (Maoist) candidate from Lalitpur-3, Pampha Bhusal, said on Sunday that mediapersons should play a special role in ensuring maximum participation of the voters in the constituent assembly election. Speaking at a get-together with women journalists at her residence, Bhusal said all should work jointly for the success of the CA election. On the occasion, women journalists said the female candidates of all the political parties should raise the issues concerning women. —RSS
