CIAA files graft case
KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday filed a corruption case against managing director of Shree Complex Private Limited, Pokhara, Jhalak Lal Shrestha, on the charge of causing a loss Rs 1 million to the Pokhara Sub Metropolitan City. The CIAA filed the charge sheet against Shrestha charging him of not performing his duty as per the agreement signed with the local body. According to the agreement, Shree Complex should fix emergency lights and improve sanitation and parking facilities in Pokhara. — HNS
Special team for polls
KATHMANDU: The National Election Observation Committee (NEOC) stated that a special team of prominent personalities of the society would be formed for the observation of the CA election. The team would include senior personalities of the civil society, including senior human rights activists, professors, lawyers and former ambassadors. According to a press release issued here by the NEOC on Tuesday, some 65 international observers would work in its coordination for the observation of the polls. The observers would come from various countries of South Asia, South-East Asia and other continents. They would begin observation work from April 8. — HNS
India Education Expo
Kathmandu: The Times Group, India’s largest media house, is going to organise the ‘India Education Expo-2008’ for three days in Kathmandu from April 4 at the Direction Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), Tripureshwor. A press release issued on Tuesday by DECC said that the exhibition would be a good platform for the students who want to go abroad for study. “About 30 colleges having management studies, media studies, hotel management studies, science studies and many other studies are taking part in the expo and around 15,000 visitors are expected to visit the expo,” it further said. — HNS
HSEB exams in May
MADHYAPUR THIMI: This year’s grade 11 and 12 examination to be conducted by the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) is scheduled to start from May. HSEB member secretary Ram Bahadur said the examination of class 11 and 12 will start from May 2 and 15, respectively. Some 148,000 examinees in regular and 58,000 in partial will attend the examination of 12th grade this year. And, 2,34,000 examinees in regular and 90,000 in partial will attend the examination of 11th grade. — RSS
Bijukchhe’s demand
MADHYAPUR THIMI: President of the Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party, Narayan Man Bijukchhe, said on Tuesday that Nepal Army (NA) personnel, living in barracks, and Maoist’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), confined into camps, who have voting rights in the CA polls, should also be informed about the poll process and voting method. At an election meeting organised here on Tuesday, Bijukchhe said that all the political parties should get a chance to present their manifestos to the NA and PLA personnel. — RSS
