KATHAMANDU: Senior journalist and president of the Nepal Human Rights and Peace Society, Purushottam Dahal, on Monday launched Kirtipur Post, the first daily newspaper of Kirtipur. The newspaper is the second publication of the Evening Times weekly. Dahal was of the opinion that press freedom leads to a sovereign and developed society. — HNS

Plea to uphold rights

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Women Association (ANWA) on Monday demanded peace and security in the nation and punishment for the guilty. A statement issued by the ANWA here on Monday said: “We condemn the murder of women and children.” It has appealed to the human rights organisations and other NGOs to assist in ensuring women’s rights. — HNS

LDOs leave for India

Kathmandu: A group of fifteen Local Development Officers (LDOs) of Nepal left for a two-week specialised training cum exposure visit to India on Sunday, said a press release issued on Monday by the Indian embassy. The statement said that the purpose of the visit was to update the participants about development administration in India and India’s latest experience in local development. The statement said that the visit is sponsored by Indian government with an assistance of Rs 10 million. — HNS
