Rana sent to jail

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court (KDC) on Wednesday sent one of the owners of the Mountain Airlines Private Limited, Pragyan Sumsher Rana, to jail as he could not deposit bail amount of Rs 10 lakh. A single bench of judge Prem Prasad Dhakal issued the order to deposit the bail amount following a hearing. Rana had been held on the charge of cheating Ravi Bahadur Khadka of Lalipur. — HNS

Three arrested

KATHMANDU: A team of police from the Metropolitan Police Sector, Singhadurbar, on Wednesday held three persons when two groups engaged in a gang fight in Babarmahal. Police said two gangs — one led by Ashok Lama of Kavre and another by Rinku Limbu of Limbu — fought over the issue of bidding for tender called by the NOC. Inspector Dipendra GC said Ajit Basnet, Manjit Bohara and Tik Limbu were held, while others are on the run. Police also impounted three motorcycles from them. — HNS

Meeting on aid

Kathmandu: A two-day discussion among donor agencies, government and civil society begun on Wednesday in Lalitpur. The discussion programme is being organised by the NGO Federation and issues on pre-conditions linked to foreign aid, loans, voices of civil organisations and their effectiveness will be discussed in the function. Papers will be presented on aid provided by donor agencies to the developing nations and their aid policy in the programme. — RSS
