Lankan FM’s visit

KATHMANDU: Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Rohitta Bogollagama is arriving in Nepal on June 30. The visit is in connection with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Nepal and the island nation. Bogollagama is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sahana Pradhan. He is also scheduled to tour Lumbini and meet representatives of the business community and monks there before leaving on July 3. — HNS

Sahana’s Turkey trip

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sahana Pradhan, is visiting Turkey in the second week of July to participate in a United Nations conference on Least Developed Countries. She will also visit Israel and Egypt. — HNS

ILO flag atop Everest

KATHMANDU: A member of the ‘First Nepali Labour Everest Expedition 2007’ has hoisted the flag of the International Labour Organisation on Mount Everest for the first time in the history of mountaineering. A press statement issued here on Tuesday by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said that Nima Dorchi Sherpa successfully scaled Everest on May 23 and unfurled the flag. — HNS
