CIAA quizzes Yangkila

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday quizzed former minister of the king Gyanendra-led cabinet, Yangkila Sherpa, on the charge of misappropriating state treasury to suppress people during the Jana Andolan II. The CIAA quizzed her on the basis of a report prepared by former Supreme Court judge Krishna Jung Rayamajhi on the Jana Andolan II. — HNS

Sitaula’s stand

LALITPUR: Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said that the government is committed to control the anarchist and violent activities that take place on the backing of political elements. Sitaula said this while inaugurating a two-day national seminar on ‘CA and the Participation of Women Labourers’ organised here on Sunday by the Nepal Trade Union Congress, Women’s Committee. He urged the Maoist-affiliated YCL activists to observe patience. — RSS

Man held for murder

KATHMANDU: Police team from Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, on Sunday arrested Balkrishna Budhathoki, 35, of Sunsari, on charge of murdering five-year old child Ashutosh KC on May 10. DSP Shushil Bhandari at the police office said that Budhathoki murdered the child and threw the body on the bank of a river near Chudikhel. “He admitted to the crime and said he murdered the child for a golden earring,” Bhandari said. Meanwhile, the police office seized two motorcycles with same registration plate from TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. — HNS
