KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (Democratic) general secretary, Bimalendra Nidhi, on Sunday told the leadership of its sister organisations to call their respective central committee meetings in the next week and decide the date for the general convention. Call to uplift women

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress central committee member Narahari Acharya on Sunday said that the state should bring Muslim women into the mainstream of national development. Speaking at an interaction on the ‘Role of Muslim women in the formation of a new Nepal’, Acharya said: “The state should address the issues of the Muslim women in order to uplift them.” MP Sabitri Bogiti said: “The rights of the women can be safeguarded through the constituent assembly polls.” Mohommad Siddhighi, president of the Fatima-Foundation-Nepal, Nepalganj, said: “The issues of the Muslim women and other marginalised sections of the society should be addressed while restructuring the state.” — HNS

HUDEP meet ends

KATHMANDU: The Human Development and Peace Campaign (HUDEP) -Nepal has demanded that the government announce the constituent assembly poll date and create an enviroment for holding the same. In a press release issued after a two-day meeting on Sunday, it has urged the government to form a high-level committee to probe incidents of rights violations and to publicise the report of the Rayamajhi commission to end the culture of impunity. — HNS
