NC PP meet

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party (PP) on Friday formed a committee led by PP leader Ram Chandra Paudel to prepare a concrete view on the key issues of the new constitution. “The 23-member committee which includes senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, deputy leader Prakash Man Singh and other senior leaders of the party will meet on Sunday to draw the party’s view on the issue,” said NC whip Sobhakar Parajuli. NC lawmakers urged the leadership to make concrete efforts to return the public and private properties seized by the UCPN-M, stop the excesses of the Unified CPN-Maoist and make CPN-UML accountable for the running of the government. — HNS

SC intervenes

KATHMANDU: Following a protracted row between the government authorities and Shree Distillery Pvt Ltd, the Supreme Court finally vacated its three-month old stay order on the property owned by the company. The Department of the Inland Revenue Office and the Land Revenue Office, Bharatpur had moved the SC demanding to vacate the stay order in a bid to recover the Rs 870 million in taxes with the company. —HNS
