NOC gheraoed

KATHMANDU: The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Dealers’ Association on Tuesday gheraoed the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) central office for an hour, demanding smooth supply of LPG. The association took out a rally from Balkumari in Lalitpur. “The gherao was called off after the NOC agreed to hold talks with us tomorrow,” said Bibendra Pradhananga, president of the association. “We requested the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Measurement (NBSM) to raid the gas depot of the Everest Gas Company. When the NBSM raided, it was found that they were storing 3,500 cylinders filled with gas,” Pradhananga added. — HNS

Four penalised

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court (KDC) on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 50 on four people for beating up an advocate, Uddav Kumar KC, in the court premises seven months ago. A single bench of judge Prabha Basnet convicted them on the contempt of court charge filed by the Kathmandu District Court Bar Association. The court fined Urmila Kunwar, Pradip Raj Kunwar, Shambhu Lama and Sunil Rasaili. They had attacked advocate KC for pleading on behalf of their respondent Tirtha Kumari Kunwar in a property case. — HNS

American found dead

KATHMANDU: An American national, Nanny Michael, was found dead in a room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at Bouddha in Kathmandu on Monday, police said on Tuesday. According to a news bulletin issued by the Police Headquarters, 21-year-old Michael had been staying in room number 652. Further investigation is on, the release said. — HNS
