Tavern raid: 43 held

KATHMANDU: A police team from Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha, on Thursday raided 45 illegal breweries and arrested 13 persons involved in producing alcohol. According to a police official at the circle, they raided 45 illegal breweries located at Pipalbot, Naya Basti, Baisdhara, Tusal and Ramhiti. Police arrested Maiya Tamang, Shamsher Rai, Bina Shrestha, Ain Shrestha, Raju Shrestha, Prem Shrestha, Doma Lama, Radhika Bharati, Jit Bahadur Lama, Nima Sherpa, Prabita Rai and Ashmita Rai and destroyed utensils, drums and 1,500 litres of raw materials used for producing alcohol. — HNS
