Call to withdraw strike

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) on Monday urged the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha to withdraw its three-day bandh programme from January 12-14 to cooperate with the NBA to conduct its election of the central working committee. The NBA is going to hold the election on Saturday and has called political parties not to hamper it. — HNS

Training for ITF men

KATHMANDU: Training for 111 ex-Gurkha servicemen of the Interim Task Force (ITF) began here on Monday. The ITF has been formed to monitor Maoist soldiers and their weapons in designated cantonments round the clock. ITF members will be deployed in cantonments once they complete the training. Meanwhile, an eight-member arms monitors’ team headed to Nepalgunj to carry out its duty, a UN source said. — HNS

Property looted

Kathmandu: Property worth around Rs 300,000 was looted on Monday. According to the police, five persons looted Rs 25,000 in cash, 12 tolas of gold and two mobile sets amounting to Rs 256,000 from the house of Bal Prasad Sharma at Bijeshwori. Three persons looted Rs 72,200 from the Sajha Petrol Pump at Gatthaghar, Madhyapur Thimi. — HNS
