Exam disrupted
KATHMANDU: The ANNFSU (Revolutionary) has demanded to abrogate all levels’ entrance exams in Tribhuvan University. The Union on Tuesday interrupted the entrance exam of Bachelor level First Year in various campuses of Kathmandu Valley demanding to provide opportunity for all the students to study in upper level as per their academic qualification without compelling to sit for entrance exam. The ANNFSU (R) General Secretary, Himal Sharma, said those students who have passed-certificates of any lower level should be guaranteed to further study in the upper level in the same subjects they studied in previous level. — RSS
Team felicitated
MADHYAPUR THIMI: Rastriya Prajapati Samaj, Thimi, has felicitated a delegation of Sikkim Inhabitants’ Association. The delegation led by president of the Association Khagendra Pradhan is here on a week long visit to study and conduct research on ethnic art and culture. On the occasion, President of the Prajapati Samaj Ganesh Ram Prajapati noted that the Newari art and culture is on the verge of extinction due to “foreign influence”. — RSS

MADHYAPUR THIMI: The SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Centre has not published the result of the examinations taken for selecting employees one year ago. The Centre had taken written examinations and conducted interviews for vacancies required for the Centre in 2005. Some 700 applicants had attended the examinations for seven vacancies whereas the Centre has said the result was delayed because of some technical difficulties. Though Director of the Centre is Member Secretary of the Vacancy Supply Committee, he alone cannot do anything without Chairman in this regard, said Director Dr Kashi Kant Jha. — RSS
Poacher arrested
KATHMANDU: A poacher, Sita Khanal, who had killed a rhino at Dibyanagar in Chitwan on October 25, has been arrested on a tip-off of the Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN), a NGO that nomitors wildlife trade and develops environment awareness programme. According to a press release issued by WCN on Tuesday, she was arrested with coordination of Chitwan National Park and Nepali Army based at Chitwan and field persons from WCN. Khanal has confessed to her crime, the release said. The same morning, WCN provided information to the Chitwan National Park that led to the arrest of Ghati Kumal and Gajamaya Kumal who supplied arms and ammunition to poachers and information on where rhinos could be found. — HNS
