NRTU slams budget

KATHMANDU: Nepal Revolutionary Teachers’ Union on Saturday criticised the government for showing less concern about the education related issues. Releasing a press statement here, the NRTU said that the government had allocated less budget for the education sector this year. It also demanded that the government invest around 24 per cent of the total budget in the sector.The union has been seeking the fulfilment of the 18-point demands, including the appointment of all the teachers working on temporary basis and in relief quota as permanent. — HNS

BP’s 27th anniversary

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress acting president Sushil Koirala inaugurated a tree plantation programme organised by the Nepal Tarun Dal Kathmandu District Committee on the occasion of the 27th Memorial Day of Bishweshor Prasad Koirala on Saturday. The day was celebrated with a slogan of ‘Protect the future generation from the impact of climate change’ at a Jagdole-based under construction park in Gokarna.
