Task force on mishaps

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Labour and Transport Management on Sunday constituted a task force under the chairmanship of secretary at the ministry Uddhav Prasad Baskota to identify the causes of increasing road accidents in the country. The task force has representatives of transport workers and entrepreneurs and police personnel as members. The ministry has asked the task force to submit a report in 15 days, a press release said. — HNS

Astrologers’ panel

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the South Asian Astrologers’ Federation (SAAF) on Saturday elected a 31-member new central committee headed by president Madhab Prasad Pandey. The committee has Shiv Shankar Neupaney, Mahesh Gautam and Tarun Gupra as vice-president, general secretary and treasurer respectively, a SAAF press release said on Sunday. — HNS

3 hurt in police action

KATHMANDU: Three persons were injured when police used force to evacuate a settlement of landless people at Gothatar village developmet committee-3. Around 300 families had been living in 300 ropanis of land owned by the Pashupati Area Development Trust. Yesterday, police set on fire 300 huts of the landless people to evacuate the plot. Police lathicharged the landless people when they refused to leave the settlement, police said. — HNS

Bhaktapur Night

KATHMANDU: In a bid to promote sustainable tourism, Bhaktapur Tourism Development Committee is all set to organise Bhaktapur Night on the occasion of the Full Moon Day

on November 5. The event will be held in cooperation with Bhaktapur municipality, Bhaktapur District Development Committee and Madhyapur Thimi municipality. The event is being promoted by the Nepal Tourism Board. — HNS
