German Unity Day

KATHMANDU: King Gyanendra has extended cordial felicitation to President of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr Horst Kohler on the occasion of the Day of German Unity. In a message sent on Tuesday, the King, on behalf of the government and people of Nepal and on his own, wished for the President’s personal health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Germany. King also expressed confidence that the friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the years to come. — RSS

Art competition

BHAKTAPUR: Nepal Artists’ Group, Bhaktapur organised an open painting competition on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami-2063. All together 29 students of 24 schools participated in the competition entitled ‘’ Nepal: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’’. The painting competition was organised with a view to bring out the inherent talent in the school children, said chairman of the group, Chandra Man Suwal. — RSS

PM’s message

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, on behalf of the people and the government of Nepal and on his own, has congratulated Prime Minister Myeong Sook Han of the Republic of Korea on the occasion of the National Foundation Day of the Republic of Korea. In a message sent on Tuesday, PM Koirala conveyed best wishes through the Korean Prime Minister for his personal good health and happiness as well as progress and prosperity of the people of Korea. PM Koirala also appreciated the cooperation extended by the government and people of the Republic of Korea in the development efforts of Nepal and expressed confidence that the friendly relations between the two nations would be further strengthened in the years ahead. — RSS

Committee formed

BHAKTAPUR: The District Level Immunization Coordination Committee, Bhaktapur, has constituted six supervision and monitoring committees in order to make the National Immunization Day (NID) programme more effective. According to Senior Public Health Officer of the District Public Health Office Arjun Kumar Adhikari, the committees had been formed so that no children of the district would be left out during Polio drops administering programme to be conducted in Bhaktapur. Necessary arrangements have been carried out in the district for the polio administering programme during this year’s NID programme which is scheduled to take place on October 14, November 18 and December 23. One drowns in pond

BHAKTAPUR: One 23-year-old Roshan Thaubada was drowned to death at the famous pond of Siddhapokhari, Bhaktapur, on Monday. According to the District Police Office, Bhaktapur, Thaubada has been identified as a resident of Bhaisepati of Nasika Village Development Committee, Kavre District. — RSS

Festival celebrated

MADHYAPUR THIMI: Seto Ghode Jatra, the festival celebrated every year on Vijaya Dashami, took place, here on Monday. By Hindu religion Seto Ghoda is the conveyance of Goddess Taleju Bhavani. After four highest priests perform tantric practices of worship, offering of Tika and end practices of Tika at Taleju Bhawani at the night of Bijaya Dashami this festival begins by unleashing a white horse. It has been in practice that the horse is taken to various places. On Monday, the horse was taken to Bharwancho, Bamsagopal, Bhunji Kokha and Pashupatinath.— RSS
