Reinstate scribes’

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education and Sports, in a statement on Wednesday, urged all private media houses to reinstate dismissed journalists and provide them support and facilities as per the Working Journalists’ Act 2051 BS. Efforts aimed at reinstating the journalists of government and private media houses, who were dismissed because of their ideologies, are under way, the ministry said. — RSS

Envoy meets Speaker

KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Malaysia to Nepal Mahinder Singh paid a courtesy call on Speaker Subhas Nembang at the Parliament Building on Wednesday. On the occasion, discussions were held on political development, the peace process, the education sector of Nepal and human rights situation. Views were also exchanged on the federal political system of Malaysia. — RSS

Tourist arrivals up

KATHMANDU: A total of 20,904 tourists visited Nepal this July, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said, adding that the number of arrivals increased by six per cent in comparison to the corresponding period last year. Compared to last July, the number of Indian tourists went up by 13.1 per cent this July, the ministry said. A total of 10,019 Indians visited Nepal this July. — RSS
